I don’t want this to sound like ragebait I did a replay of the games recently and I kind of came to this realization.

I do want to clarify that I think the 1st Game is still a masterpiece. It still has so much aura but the other 2 are kind of bad imo.

fnaf 2 specifically is really held back by the fact that only 2 characters have unique mechanics and the fact that the camera system straight up, doesn’t matter with the exception of one camera the game is quite literally just the mask simulator.

one of the reasons Fnaf 1 was so scary was the cool camera renders and Fnaf 2 does have awesome renders however you never see them because you never have to use those cameras also the camera flashlight is so pointless. it kind of sucks since Fnaf 2 easily has like the 2nd best cast in the franchise imo.

fnaf 3 is kind of just boring. Like this is a personal thing, but it’s really hard to take the color green In the office seriously and the phantoms I feel like ruin The tension for me because once the jumpscare Hits And it just becomes a gimmick a large part of the horror is kind of gone. I also think the phantoms are easily the most boring Variations of the cast Because they’re kind of just recolors. It also doesn’t help that the maintenance panel makes the game feel so slow.

It also doesn’t help that springtrap jump scare is Really bad which sucks because he quite literally in my top 3. tho the game did a really good job in making the actually with the audio lure and all of his camera renders are very cool.

story wise is also a controversial take, but I much prefer the story of the later trilogy feels like there’s actual characters there. The real story to me really began around sister location.

where is the first trilogy is just kind of a bunch of events happening and not really much emotion it was kinda of carried by The fan interpretations at the time if I’m being honest. It also doesn’t help that fnaf 2 Hurts the story more than helps like there’s kind of a lot of pointless Plot points there

1. The DCI which kind of ruin Any importance the bite of 87 could’ve had as they are the reasons the location close the bite just a bonus thing and They aren’t even given a conclusion in fnaf 3 Just the main MCI and puppet.

2. The randomly plot point of the owner coming back, which doesn’t go anywhere in the og trilogy

3. having the Fnaf 1 location opened like twice kind of pointless too

4.give give give life while iconic is kind of pointless in the grand scheme of things if it didn’t mean the puppet stuff the kids in the suits Which they didn’t since it was confirmed to be William, who did that so there’s not really much of a point.

again Just my opinion of course I feel like a lot of the Fnaf games would benefit heavily from remakes 2 And 3 Especially so they could express their full potential.

Hot take: I think the original trilogy of Fnaf games are kind of overrated
