MAGA or MAGA-adjacent (no libs please) how do I get some greener grass in my lawn this summer?

For context I live in a high desert climate. We just moved to the neighborhood last summer and we’re pretty embarrassed by how bad our lawn was. It’s mostly dry yellow with patches of dark green and weeds. Any advice on what to do? Is early April a good time to start over seeding and do a rye/bluegrass mix? Or should I try a different approach?
