I just got diagnosed with adhd a few days ago and I don’t want concerta even tho I haven’t began titration
Ok so hi I’m a uni student and I just had an adhd diagnoses on the 2nd of April where I got verbally diagnosed with adhd. My clinician mentioned I would get started on methylphenidate however I was disappointed because everyone’s been harping on about elvanse and I wanted to try that. I also did some research and I saw that the things i suffer with like impulsivity with money and food buying, task initiation etc is better curbed with elvanse. The clinician didn’t even cover on food or finances i lowkey feel like that was my fault because he mentioned at the end if I had anything to add but I couldn’t think of that in the moment. It’s been a journey to come to this diagnoses as my mum and family(I’m African) didn’t think anything was wrong with me and just told me to pray 💀 and that they thought I was just lazy. My question is do I just stick with concerta or Ritalin or whatever they prescribe or do I ask for meds I know are better suited to me even though I don’t want to be labelled as drug seeking. Plus I’m waiting for an ECG and I’m so anxious and nervous and I’m thinking about just paying £100 to get a private examination. Please help
