If I restart on switch, will it restart on switch 2?

I just got the switch 2 and moved my valley over there. I want to let my husband play with his own valley on my old switch but if I wanted to make sure if I restart the game on the switch 1 it won't restart it on switch 2. How can I make this happen? Do I have to unlink the two? Thanks for your help.
