Brother Charger 11 - Paper Bending + Smudging

Hi All,

Picked up a Brother 11 on the cheap, and it's a terrific typer.

Two issues thus far:

1. The paper bends while I am typing a single page. When I pull it out, it's U-shaped. Have not ever had this experience on any other typewriter. Platen does not seem uneven or overly hard.

2. Occasionally it will randomly blorp an ink smudge onto the page, not where the typing is, but above or below. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Ribbon is new and is correctly installed.

Any thoughts on these two things?
