Can't See the Forest for the Trees?
Names seem to be so significant in this series, it makes me think about Clark's last name: Forrest. We have the well-known saying, "You can't see the forest for the trees." Are all these weird twists and turns the "trees" that make it hard for us to see the real Clark? Looked at together with the opening credits, where Clark is posturing in front of a green screen, it's possible that we are being shown just how much we rely on context to find meaning. (The picture we can't see on the green screen is the only thing that makes Clark's movements and gestures meaningful. Also, green screen = the "trees?" Trees are, after all, a green screen of sorts. And they are what gets in the way of "Let the sun shine, let the sun shine in.") I really don't want it to turn out that Clark is culpable in any way, but can't help but wonder about all this. Something we have not yet seen about Clark's background may be key to unlocking the whole thing, even if he is not a perpetrator.
