Shirtless guy talks to the wife at a pool. Did I overreact?

I’m trying to lose weight. My friend suggested that I need to start swimming for about 30 min a day. I tried and it worked. The weight is going down.

The problem is that I can’t keep track of time while swimming so my wife volunteered to go lay on the chase lounge by the pool (read a book/phone) and track 30 min while I’m swimming. (We have a small pool in this apartment complex where we live.)

A few times earlier I’ve noticed this lone shirtless dude that comes out to sun tan. You know the type that likes to show off his oily chest. And a few times he exchanged a few words with my wife while I was swimming.

So fast forward to yesterday, when we got to the pool the shirtless guy was lounging there again. He saw us together.

I went swimming my rounds. Then soon after that I see that the shirtless dude started talking to my wife. Remember it takes me about 30 min for the swim. Then the next time I turn around I see them engaged in a full blown conversation. Then the next time he set up on his chase lounge while talking to her. Then the next time I see them, he got close to my wife and sat on the side of another chase lounge next to her. This lasted for at least 10-15 minutes.

Eventually when I got out the guy left and went to the pool too.

I didn’t say anything. But later when we got to our apartment I told her that next time I need to go later so that “we don’t run into that schmuck again.”

When she heard it she immediately threw a tantrum and yelled at me, “you always talk shit about people. You need to look at yourself.” And today she barely talked to me and left to see her sister.

Am I in the wrong here?
