Working in France with a Belgian single permit – what are the requirements?
Hello everyone,
I’m posting here because I’m starting to get really worried about my situation and I hope someone can help or share advice.
I have been living in Belgium since 2022 with a single permit (work + residence). I’ve been working since August 2022, but I had a few interruptions of less than 3 months each, mainly because I was laid off twice due to economic reasons.
Currently, I have been unemployed since February 15, 2026. I am actively looking for a job and applying everywhere, but the job market is very slow right now and I haven’t received any positive responses yet.
My situation is becoming urgent: I am a father with dependents, and I absolutely need to find a job before May 15, 2026, otherwise I may have to leave Belgium.
Because of this, I started applying for jobs in France, but I am quite confused about the administrative process:
- Do I need a new work permit to work in France?
- Do I need to apply for a visa, even though I am already a resident in Belgium?
If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows about the process, I would really appreciate your advice.
Thank you very much for your help ☺
