Oneshot background story
Hey everyone,
I’m a player in a DnD 5e campaign with six players and one GM. I’ve been thinking about taking over as GM for one evening to tell a bit of my character’s backstory.
My gnome character has a deep hatred for the undead, and I want to show where that comes from. My thought is that generations ago, the undead drove their relatives out of their village and across the mountains, about 200–300 years back.
The idea is to hand out new character sheets for all the players and have them live through that escape. Since these characters are meant for just one session, I’m fine with some (or most) of them dying dramatically.
Has anyone run or played an adventure focused on escaping from an overwhelming enemy?
Any common pitfalls or tips you’d recommend?
Or do you think I should just scrap the idea and do something completely different instead?
