USPS losing my packages. Help please
USPS lost 4 packages within a week. 3 were from 2 separate private sellers and 1 from a company. 1 was marked delivered march 27th and 3 marked delivered April 2cd. None were delivered. I went into the local USPS April 3rd and was like what's up with this. The post lady who does my route specifically remembered 2 of my packages being delivered to the community mailbox. We have a collective of mailboxes with larger lockboxes on the bottom for packages. USPS then puts a key in your box. They said they would look for my packages. I had hope.
Well I went to check my mailbox later that day hoping to find a key for my boxes. No luck. I then went back to USPS and they did not find my boxes. This would mean someone received my key and took my boxes. I was and still am beyond pissed because there were limited edition / limited production items in there. Items I can't just buy. not even from ebay. I tried looking. Only 100 were made of 1 of the items and a few hundred of 1 of the others. The last valuable item was not rare itself but on the expensive side. So the issue here is I can't just replace them. I was beyond lucky to find someone selling them on facebook.
The USPS took down my complaint and said they would look into it. Not feeling hopeful I went ahead and submitted a complaint with the USPIS for mail theft from the person who got my mail, and OIG for negligence. Well April 4th comes by and I have 4 packages. 2 of them were the missing packages. The other 2 were from amazon. One of the missing packages was from the seller who sent me two separate boxes and unfortunately all the valuables were in the above mentioned boxes which the post lady remembers putting in the mailbox and are gone now. Postmaster called me the 4th. New to the position and very polite. If it weren't for the few beers and good mood I was in I may not have been on the understanding side, but she said she was going to look into this. That is great and it was mentioned trying to get my packages back but no promises. She also mentioned trying to get a refund from the sellers and they will get the $100 insurance but it is not exactly their fault. I would not blame them for saying hell no. She said she was going to do some investigating and get back to me Monday. Nice sounding lady. She explained she was very new and kinda just thrown into this position. I should add this losing mail from USPS is very common come to find out.
I am just looking for a little advice of did I do the right thing immediately going to USPIS and OIG? Is there anything yall would have done differently? Any hope for my packages? I don't even want the money I would get. I just want my items because they are damn near irreplaceable.
Thank you for listening to my TedTalk.
