Girl I’m talking to says we’re moving too fast

I (m20) have been talking to this girl (f20) for about a month now and the other day she said she felt we were moving too fast. I’m totally fine with that, but I’m a massive over-thinker and I wanted to get some other opinions on this. Apparently strangers on the internet is my best idea at the moment.

We first went out February 24th at a small cafe, nothing serious. And then we hung out at some small restaurant nearby a week-ish later we hung out on campus after spring break. She went on a trip for her birthday to Spain (she’s Spanish) last weekend. At our age, we have Snapchat too, which makes me overthink more and makes things a bit more complicated. During her trip, she stopped snapping me as much and still doesn’t snap as much since she’s been back.

Leading up to when she left for her trip, we were texting almost everyday, most of the day and I could tell she was catching harder feelings and so was I. She was in the airport all day one day and we were texting and she said she remembered when I first walked into class and her and I immediately made eye contact.

She got back from her trip on Monday, and I took her out on Wednesday for her birthday cause class was canceled all day. I go her flowers the night before from Publix, cause I didn’t wanna get anything too fancy or serious at the moment. But I took her to this breakfast place nearby where I spent $70 😬. I didn’t realize the place was like that and I think that came across to her as a bigger deal than I intended it to be.

After we ate, I drove us back to campus and she said she thinks I’m a really good guy and she can tell I’m well intentioned, but she thinks we’re moving too fast. I’m fine with moving slow, because the last girl I talked to was talking about marriage four days into talking.

After she told me that, I was panicking a bit tbh but I remained calm and told her I sort of agreed and I wanted to take it slow as well. After I said that, I could tell she was more comfortable around me. She was going through my playlist, picking out songs she wanted to listen to, making more childish/silly jokes (of the 67 variety), and she was just overall a bit more comfortable to me. That’s how I saw it at least. I told her I’m sorry if I made her feel we were moving too fast, but she said it was okay and that she just wants to move slowly.

She had to go about 30 minutes after that, so I walked her to her car so she could drop the flowers off and then to a building on campus so she could use the restroom and then go find her friend (our school had a fair with rides and food and stuff like that. Before I left, she gave me googly eyes kinda and hugged me, which was our first hug. She’s still been snapping me back barely, so I don’t know what to think here. Is she still wanting to move forward (at a slower pace obviously) or is she giving me mixed signals/leading me on?

There’s nothing that she’s done that’s making me question anything. It’s just that, due to girls I’ve talked to in the past, I’m seeing signs that maybe aren’t there and I’m freaking out cause I don’t wanna waste my time on another girl like that.

I know that her mom is going through treatments right now, and her mom means a lot to her. And she’s said some things that lead me to believe she doesn’t have the greatest relationship with her father. With this in mind, I’m thinking that she’s dealing with all of that, and wants to check herself before she moves too far forward with me.

When we were in the car after she said we were moving too fast, I told her that I had a buddy who said I could probably ask her to be my girlfriend at this stage and I told her that I said to him not yet. She replied with either “yeah, not yet” or “no, not yet.” Either way, she didn’t give a hard no and said “not yet” in both phrasings.

I really like this girl and I want things to work out. I’m doing my best to pursue her with Godly intentions and be a man worth moving forward with. I’ve always done that with whatever girl I’m talking to, and this time is the best it’s ever worked out (at least so far). I’ve prayed and prayed very hard about how to go about this and I want God to guide me and if she’s not the eventual wife for me I want her out of my life. I prayed that about every girl I’ve ever been with, and God has always removed them almost instantly, but not this one.

I know this is a lot, but if anyone has something to offer, I’d love to hear some advice or something of the sort. Does it seem like I’m all good here in this situation and am I overthinking way too much, or should I be concerned about how this is going?
