Saline mascara trick for tubing mascara?

So I found an older tube of tubing mascara in my stores that I never opened, but when I did it’s already a little dried out. Does the saline trick work for tubing mascara too, or will it alter the formula too much? By that I mean adding a drop or two of saline to thin it out a little.

I would assume one drop might help, if the problem is that it has lost moisture. But I of corse can’t mix it that well, and it might matter a lot more than it seems to
