Should I upgrade my eBay product photo setup?
I am always tweaking my photo setup to try and get good, or as near of professional looking photos without being a professional.
At one point I was getting my feet wet using manual settings and decent DSLR.
I just seemed to always revert back to mostly auto settings.
My last camera was an original sony rx100.
After getting an iPhone 17 pro max I just liked how quick and simple it was to have the photos pull right into my Mac.
So as far as lighting,
I have had shoe mount flashes (when using digital cameras)
I just came into an Amaran 60xs cob light and purchased a smallish soft box as I am in a smallish walk in closet.
I also have/had another COB light that I put up for sale, I like how the Amaran keeps its settings and turns on with the flip of my power strip button. The other cob you have to hold the power button and then cycle through power settings.
I plan to purchase a second Amaran and soft box. I don’t have room for a tripod on the floor, and am using clamps. If anyone makes an articulating arm (think dental light) that would be wonderful, but I could not find one.
I know strobe lights would get a more professional result, but the only ones I found that work with the iPhone are profoto and the prices would get me in trouble.
I was debating going back to a camera and strobes, but maybe I just need to be happy with my continuous lights.
I’m just eBay selling (26 years now)
And my photos are better than average.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Should I be happy with continuous lighting?
