Need advice on hiring a lawyer (Stock Photography Copyright Issue, International Company)
Hi everyone,
I’m a stock photographer from India contributing to platforms like Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, etc. I’m currently dealing with a copyright issue involving a stock photography distribution company called Wirestock.
My Wirestock account was deleted in March 2024, and I had requested removal of all my content. However, as of April 2026, my images are still being sold on third-party stock platforms like Dreamstime, without any reporting or payments to me.
This appears to be unauthorized commercial use of my work even after account termination.
I want to take legal action and seek significant compensation for this, but I’m unsure about the best way to proceed, especially since the company is not based in India.
I had a few questions:
- Should I approach an Indian IP lawyer or someone based in the company’s country?
- Is this something that can realistically be resolved through a legal notice and settlement?
- Are there lawyers in India who work on a success-based (percentage/contingency-like) payment structure for such cases?
If anyone has experience with stock photography disputes or cross-border copyright issues, I’d really appreciate your advice.
Thanks in advance.
