Advice for fixing DIY job

We are new homeowners and we love our home. That being said, for some reason the previous owners decided to DIY the fireplace. It looks terrible, at least to us. When we did our first walk through we asked the realtor about the color and she said the previous owners just looked up the color of the year and went with that, unfortunately it was this blue which I do not like whatsoever. The rock or whatever is the correct term was also done haphazardly. I’ve called Masonry’s and cannot find one who will redo it. One of my coworkers suggested I call a sandblast company & see if they can sandblast the blue paint off. That is my next step but I wanted to come in here & see if anyone had any ideas or advice because the color is the worst issue but the rock is also a concern. Could I try to caulk it correctly and just paint the brick white to try and make it more easy on the eyes? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
