I hate my Gaggia Magenta Prestige, what should I replace it with?
I have been using Gaggia super-automatic machines for 20 years. I loved them. Three years ago I bought a Magenta Prestige and I HATE IT. It takes forever to make a double-shot, it's hard to clean, I just don't need all 30 million drink settings, and a month ago it stopped producing coffee. The coffee just runs straight into the drip tray.
I've been attempting to fix it, cleaning and greasing everything and trying to figure out what the problem is, but I think this is just not the machine for me.
Honestly I just make Americanos all the time and I don't remember why I thought this one was a good idea.
So--I want to stay with the super-automatic. I want to be able to push a button and have a double-shot of drinkable espresso come out. I want the machine to last and last, and if it breaks I want to be able to repair it/have it repaired. I would certainly prefer if every single piece inside the machine weren't made out of plastic (!!! looking at you, Magenta).
What should I get to replace this one? Price under $1000, and I'll happily buy refurbs.
