Your crush is atleast 10x magnified in your mind

Let's discuss

So a guy in my team had a huge crush on a girl in our office. Since I was friends with her, he asked me to talk him up. But spending time with her made me sorta realise she wasn't in the headspace for a relationship.

I told him, but he didn't care. His heart was already set.

Over the next year he tried making small talk, dropped hints, but it never went anywhere. She kinda let him down indirectly.
Eventually he asked her out directly. And she said no.

He had promised himself he wouldn't get upset. However he couldn’t help it. He was heartbroken.

Talking to him after, I noticed something. He had this really perfect image of her in his mind - innocent, kind and cares about others.
From my own interactions with her, that impression isn't wrong.
But in his mind it was magnified. Every thought about her made the image grow bigger and more perfect.

It might have actually been a good thing she said no. The real her and the imagined her felt like two different people. Disappointment was probably inevitable either way.

Ngl, I have done this myself. But seeing it happen to someone else gave me a totally different perspective.

Imagination is one of the mind's greatest abilities. But when left unchecked, it pulls you so far from reality that you don't notice until it's too late.
It important sometimes you just pause, maybe take a walk or meditate a bit, to really see things just the way it is :))
