Fustrated dev
Every time I post something AI-assisted, there’s always that one crowd: “Holy AI slop,” “Cheating,” “You’re not really coding.” Yeah, I hear you. But let me tell you something.
I’ve been building my universe engine Celestial in Rust for over a year. Every crate, every physics module, every solar system simulation — painstakingly hand-coded, tested, refined. Yet somehow, people lose their minds because today, I use an AI I coded myself to help with regression checks, test scaffolding, repetitive tasks.
Here’s the kicker: this AI does nothing for vibe coding. It doesn’t design the systems. It doesn’t pick the color palette of planets. It doesn’t decide the orbital mechanics or the modular architecture. It only helps me avoid regressions and mistakes — the boring stuff nobody wants to check twice. The creative, fun, chaotic part? That’s all me. My brain. My years of tinkering.
Meanwhile, the devs losing their minds about AI? Most of them are stuck refactoring legacy codebases, bleeding time on old projects they can’t maintain. They cry about “skill loss” while they can’t even ship without breaking something. They can’t handle the modern pace, and now they’re irrelevant. Jobs slip away. Opportunities vanish. Meanwhile, AI users are shipping, learning, evolving — faster and safer.
Let’s get one thing straight: AI isn’t magic. It’s a tool. And the only reason some devs rage about it is because they’re terrified of becoming obsolete. They’re terrified that others can leverage modern workflows, move faster, and avoid burnout. Meanwhile, I’m vibing, building worlds, testing universes, coding like I’ve been doing for a year — just smarter, not lazier.
So yeah, my AI checks regressions. It saves me time. It prevents me from repeating tedious mistakes. But it doesn’t touch my creativity, my coding style, my vibe. And if that’s scary to you, maybe it’s not the AI you should fear — maybe it’s the fact that you’re stuck crying over a workflow you refuse to evolve.
Here’s the truth: adapt or fade out. Stop whining. Stop gatekeeping. The future doesn’t care about your pride — it only rewards the ones who build, ship, and evolve. And yes, I built the AI myself. And yes, it helps me avoid regressions. And no, it doesn’t touch the soul of the code I write.
Deal with it.
