My Brazilian mother-in-law's cooking
My partner's mother is making lunch for Easter. It will be chicken, rice, beans, and pumpkin. The only spice will be a tiny bit of salt. Occasionally, she'll get adventurous and throw a bay leaf into the beans, but not today.
This is a meal that they would serve me in hospice.
I offered to cook mujadarra (Lebanese rice, lentils, and fried onions) with plenty of cumin, but was firmly rebuffed.
Am I dying or is this just a normal Brazilian home-cooked meal?
