Is it a sin to have disordered eating?
I know that eating disorders aren't usually a choice you can make, but I feel like in my case, I do deliberately make these choices. That's why I'm calling it disordered eating and not an eating disorder. Plus I don't have any diagnosis
I try not to eat a lot to lose weight, and then I end up over eating (which is gluttony, no?) and then I purge, which I feel like that is a sin because its hurting myself on purpose. And it's not a compulsion, I have the option I just chose to do it thinking that in the end I can eat all that and keep the calories in me, or I can get at least some of it up. The latter option is better for my goals.
But then I feel I'm also making an idol of my body because I'm doing all this just to achieve a certain look, and I'm not sure if that counts as a mortal sin in this case.
the binging I feel I have no control over, but the purging and the restricting I do, so I'm really confused.
