This is literally the whole process at least when i bothered to take wips. i didn't actually think to until after i finished his face and was doing the shapes of his torso and arms.

pic 2 i worked extensively on his hands and arms, and couldn't seem to get his nips correct, i spent way more time drawing ovals and erasing them.

pic 3 i drew his pants and boot shapes. i actually ended up making the boot on the right a lot longer than it initially was but keeping the calf. you can see where the border was erased and i extended the boot since i kept part of it as a fold in the leather.

pic 4 was the next day when i finished the initial linework (i would eventually double back thinking he needed a rock to sit on.

pic5 i started taking the clone tool in gimp and using it to color his face from the heroforge reference. i also used a layer beneath the coloring for the eyes to make them look set into his face instead of on top of it. that way i could adjust the colors as needed, but i ended up not needing to much. interestingly i tried using his face from the reference and it felt too dark so i used his torso for his face. a lot of that skin is from his pecs haha

pic6 started on his horns this was very shortly after the last cuz i had forgotten to take a bunch in between the two prior and overcompensated.

pic7 i took a screenshot rather than exporting, to show the layers. you can see in my working layers that the piece is being slowly constructed there, and that i have a linework layer over top that i eventually will blur for lighting. right now it acts mostly as a guide. i had planned by this point to add the rock but hadnt yet so that layer is sitting empty. i also dont bother to rename my layers often so u will see a gazillion "lowlights number #" layers if u ever look at my wips.

Pic 8 i started working on the leather. i used a google rip of some leather pants for color and shading reference but ive left that out of this post because i didnt actually use the clone tool or anything just the paint tool so its irrelevant. during this process i used a paintbrush with hardnesses varying from 10 to 70 percent to get the gradients correct. even then i kinda wish id gone back and did a highlights layer to make the pants a bit shinier.

pic9 went back to linework and added the rock on a separate layer.

pic10 finished his tail and more pants work.

pic11 finally got bored of working in black and went back to his body. this went through a lot of microchanges to the exact definition of his muscles. several times the google rips i worked from for reference didnt make him look symmetrical and ik the human body often isnt but it really got to my ocd tendencies.

pic12 i added some gold to his boots. i actually used my golden keys as color references here since they were quick at hand.

pic13 finished the boot.

pic14 worked on the gloves

Reposting the wips since so many of u cant be bothered to scroll down
