Sibling male dogs aggressive

I adopted an indie male dog a year ago, he’s a year old now. We also had a 7 yr old labrador who’s never been around other dogs much. The indie recently started showing aggression to my older lab and snaps at him. Started with a growl, now it goes into full on attack mode, it’s usually when he’s around food, or plate. He bit his ears and had to get it stitched. I feel sorry for the poor lab becs he’s always anxious and avoids any conflict and doesn’t even do anything back. What to do? We got the indie neutered around 15 days ago bcs he was chasing another street dogs and ran away and came back home only after a week(most horrifying time of my life) The lab seems much happier without the indie. But what to do. I love them both so much. The lab is not neutered bcs he’s never been a problem, never bit anyone even if he gets hurt. But the indie bit me when i was grabbed his collar while eating food, and once when i was examining his would. I cannot get rid of them. Is rhere a solution to it? We’re in remote area so can’t access any dog behaviouralist. I want both of them to get along. Indie tries to play with the lab but he never plays with him or entertain him.
