18F ‘howler’

Medical Questions

Hellllo,

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on any similar situations with their cat?

I have two old girls, one 19F (Black and White) and one who’s 18F (Calico) both moggy cats. They’ve grown with me for over half of my life!

My Calico has become reserved with age and chooses to stay mainly in the ‘cat room’ (doors always open) although does come down each day. They have two litter boxes, beds, cat scratchers, toys.

I’ve noticed her tails become thinner and she has become more vocal. As soon as we speak or she sees us this instantly stops, almost as if she completely forgot we existed. Often she vibrates her tail, purring for head strokes walking towards you. She only has a certain patience though and after a few minutes she will become over stimulated and bite you - despite being the one to continue to brush her head against your hand (that’s not abnormal for her). I have flagged this to the vet at her last nail trimming appointment but we started her on arthritis supplements as recommended incase it’s linked to that.

She’s going to the vets next week for her next nail appointment so will bring it up again but my brain is going to worst case scenario. She doesn’t act in pain but I know cats can hide it and mask it in other ways. The yowling happens during the day, can happen at night or when I’m on the same floor but in a different room (again, door open). I’ll try and pop through a video but as luck would have it, as soon as I write the post it stops!

Unsure if it’s relevant but: spayed, on senior dried biscuits, occasional wet food, sometimes creamie dreamies.

Has anyone’s cats displayed similar behaviours?
