Clocked + Harassed in Boy Mode

I was clocked as a trans woman while I was boymoding last night. No makeup. Just jeans, a t shirt, some androgynous boots, but I did have my purse with me.

I moved my cart for these two men and one of them said “I wasn’t talking to you” so I just went back to shopping. Then he said “Oh you must’ve thought I said FAGGOT”. I’m entirely unfazed by slurs for the most part, I actually thought him and his friend were a gay couple and he was making an unfunny joke since he probably clocked me as queer. I just went back to what I was doing without responding.

That pissed him off. He started saying “I bet this gay boy doesn’t know how to balance a ph… hey gay boy what toilet paper would you use to balance a ph?” and without giving me any time to respond (which I wasn’t going to), he said “that’s right gay boy, you got a dingaling just like me” then kept on. So I’m exiting the situation and he says “This fucking gay boy thinks he’s a girl!” I literally can’t win. I can only take it and escape.

I’m fine, I don’t need pity. He couldn’t hurt me with what he was saying. I was afraid and hurt that there was one grown man harassing me while the other stood by. I’m hoping my family and friends will see this situation for what it is. He would’ve hate crimed if he could’ve gotten away with it. That very public setting didn’t stop him from saying these things. And most importantly… it didn’t matter if I was boy moding or not. They knew, and they acted.
