How do I charge tax?

Shopify tells me it will let me know when I have to charge tax. I use Printful and also sell my own products. Unfortunately I pay tax on the products I buy. I’m trying to figure this out. Can anyone advise? Do I need to hit a certain amount of sales to charge tax? Ty ty
