Blueprint Studio in Bazzite Linux - Use Steam!
Hey all.. just thought I'd post this ridiculously simple workaround to get Blueprint Studio working in Linux.... Steam!
I've been wanting to switch from Windows 11 for a while, but this was the only program that consistently thwarted my efforts. Winboat doesn't work as there is no GPU Acceleration, Bottles does a weird thing where it'll install it, run it but you get the 'zombie process' in task manager... I also tried Lutris and got similar install issues .. In general, spent ages trying to make this work with all these various processes - props to Google AI mode for suggesting Steam, it didn't occur to me
I'm using Bazzite - Don't know but am 99% sure this will work in all Linux flavors as long as Steam/Proton etc is installed.. your mileage may vary etc.
Process
- Rip/Extract the files from the .exe installer
- Add the executable as a 'non-Steam' game to your Steam library
- Run with compatibility mode GE-Proton10-34 (others might work, I've not tried)
Downsides...
- You'll need to play with UI scaling using WineTricks (mine is at 140)
- There is no Drag/Drop for file import, and you have to use the rather archaic Wine File explorer - meaning you'll have to navigate to your files each time. yea that's annoying
- Make sure you mount your remote/NAS drives property so they can be seen in your Linux Home directory
Other than that.. everything seems to work, the GPU acceleration works just fine and it'll connect via my LAN to the printer.
It's not perfect, and a 'proper' Linux executable would be the best option, but until then.. this will do
YAY... no more Windows and their endless adverts/telemetry/etc for me!
