Skipping the psychiatry phase
I came out to my mom and told her I'm going to planned parenthood to start hormones, and she's making me doubt myself. I chose planned parenthood because I've just turned 18 and don't want to jump through all the hurdles of seeing doctors and getting mental health checks. I can afford it, just barely, and now my mom is saying that she will support me but since I'm newly 18 I'm taking things too fast and that I should go through all the shenanigans to make sure I know what I'm doing and I'm not going to regret it. I can't talk to my parents about anything because they've just never supported me (it's a whole thing I'm not going into it) and I've only told them once maybe 6 months ago I was trans so I think they think that I'm rushing into things. I don't really want to talk to them about how long it's been and how leaving the house I hate how I look. My mom doesn't really understand hormones but she's all about processes and it's kind of making me doubt what I'm wanting to do and I've planned to do.
TLDR: is it insane for me to just do informed consent and skip going to doctors and getting all the prerequisite checks? I know insurance wants that but I'm not worried about that.
