No job after graduation, MTech counselling ends in June — need career advice (CAT prep)

Question :snoo_thoughtful:

I'm 2025 passed out from a tier 420 (nearly) college with a BTech degree in CSE and still not placed and struggling to land in first job. I wrote GATE 2026 and with that score I can get only tier 2/3 NITs. I lost interest in software jobs after seeing massive layoffs but I'm interested in learning about finance, business and management. I have a 9/9/7 profile. I want to prepare for CAT over the next 2 years during MTech, If it went well then I will drop or else continue prep. I decided to join M Tech so that I can receive a stipend, which will cover my hostel and personal expenses, as my family is facing some financial problems. College fee may get reduced as I belong to obc ncl. I have deadline upto June ( For MTech counselling ) so I thought it is better to try for jobs and If I got job then it gives work experience for selection process. If no job then MTech. Is it a good idea to start preparing for CAT, or will I face problems after 2 years as I’m still a fresher?
