Viola sizes - tall player considering small viola

Help Request

I recently got a violin on loan. I did expect it to be easier to play than my 16,5" inch viola, but damn! not by that degree. It's so much lighter and - surprisingly - intonating feels easier than on my viola. Maybe because my fingers don't need to stretch and fall more "naturally" in place. Maybe the higher string tension plays also a role here.

I keep finding myself picking the violin up. The ease just makes it fun to play. But it's so high pitched! I even ended up buying an octave strings set to make it more viola-ly with...limited success. 14" just are tiny. (A low C string would've probably been more appropriate.)

It got my thinking: Should I downsize?
I'm 1,90m/6.2' and an amateur player with no amateur-orchestral ambitions. I play folksy and experimental stuff with my affordable but decent beginners' viola.
And I'm absolutely willing to compromise on the sound in order to optimize health and ease of playing. thinking of trying a 15.5".

Any tall players here that play a smaller viola? If so, what are your reasons and experiences?
