I ruined the chances of ever getting back together
My ex dumped me about seven months ago, and I feel like I ruined any chance of dating him again because I kept reaching out and would ask him to try again.
Here’s how our conversation yesterday went down. We briefly talked about him ordering food. And then I changed the topic to:
Me: I really do miss you a lot
Me (couple hours later): The appropriate response is saying that you miss me too btw!
Me (a couple hours after that): This whole thing doesn't feel so nice. And I know I can't force you to do something you don't want to do. It just feels progressively suckier.
Him: I know im sorry but I hope you do see it from my side too. Every time we talk you push it more towards the way you want.
Me: I know. I’m sorry.
Him: It's ok im not mad at you. I just really dont know what else to do.
Me: It's okay. At the end of the day, you just have to do what's right for you. But I don't like how certain you are with not wanting a relationship with me. Do I overwhelm you?
Him: Sometimes but not usually no. I just usually dont even look at my phone at work. Besides for youtube on lunch. And on the weekend I maximize gaming.
Me: I get it, sounds like you're pretty busy and like to use your free time to unwind. I understand.
Him: Thank you. I mean im fine with talking it just cant always be about that sheit.
I know the best thing for me is to let go. We talked last week, and I told him that our issues could be fixed by simply spending time together once a month. He said that was too demanding. And that trying again is stupid.
Do you think that if I gave him time and space (years) he might reconsider? I’m not planning to wait for him, but I’m wondering if him coming back is even a possibility. I know that everyone says that men come back, but I don’t think this one will. I think I begged for too long (~3 months straight), and I recognize I shouldn’t have done that because it made the situation worse.
I’m already going to therapy. This is just my first breakup.
