I don’t think I was giving myself enough credit until now. A year ago I quit my job with about $1500 in savings and no real plan, I just knew I couldn’t keep doing that work from home job anymore because my body and mind weren’t handling it well after COVID. So I said let me just try DoorDash and see what happens. And somehow I’ve been doing it for a year.

With everything I’ve been dealing with like fatigue, dizziness, random flare ups and just not feeling like myself, I didn’t just get through the year, I had to learn how to work around it. And that actually means something. A lot of people don’t really understand what it’s like trying to make money when your energy isn’t consistent and some days your body just doesn’t cooperate, but you still have to figure it out anyway.

I know to some people it probably just looks like gig work, but for me it was actually what I needed. I needed something flexible and this was the one thing I could keep up with. Looking back, the fact that I had no real plan and still took that leap was kind of crazy, but it worked out in its own way.

If anything this past year showed me that I can adjust when life changes, I can still support myself even if it doesn’t look how it used to, and I can rebuild at my own pace. And honestly, the fact that this is the only thing I’ve been able to stick with since 2022 doesn’t make it less, it just means this is what worked for me when everything else didn’t.

So yeah… I guess this is my one year “Dasher-versary.” I’m actually proud of myself.
