Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney was briefly and effectively banned from Reddit in late March 2026 after he posted a Dropbox link with photos and videos from an intimate concert at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, but Reddit later said this was due to a technical bug and restored his account.[1][2][5]

### What happened

- McCartney used an official‑looking Reddit account to share a Dropbox link to concert footage in the `r/PaulMcCartney` subreddit, and the account quickly appeared site‑wide banned.[5][1]

- At first it looked like subreddit moderators had banned him, but both the moderators and Reddit themselves clarified that the ban came from Reddit’s automated systems, not from volunteer mods.[9][1]

### How it was resolved

- Reddit told the press that a “technical bug” made the account look banned, and insisted “no one would ban one of The Beatles.”[2][5]

- By the next day the account was restored and visible again, though the original post with the Dropbox link was removed or deleted.[4][2]

In short: McCartney was *temporarily* blocked by Reddit’s systems over a shared external link, then unblocked once the company acknowledged it was a glitch.[2][5]
