AITA for not inviting my “friend” to my birthday?
Ok so i really need an outside prospective on this, since all the people involved are bias. I’ll try to be brief.
Me and this girl have been friends for like 4 years now, we met through mutuals and formed a group in which we were the only two girls. That of course brought us together and made us extremely close for a long time.
There is a lot more to it but to cut it short, some shit happened to the group while i was doing a semester abroad, so by being so close to her and talking so frequently i only got her side of the story, and of course believed her. I also started having issues with the other guys because whenever she called she complained/cried about stuff that happened and I would try to mediate between them.
Only after i got back and started reconnecting with everyone else i realised she influenced my opinion on so many things and especially on the other guys. She also really altered stuff so that there was a lot of miscommunication between me and the group. I tried talking to her about it but she shot me down saying that my problems with the other guys were not her problem and I should deal with them myself and leave her out of it, even though she was the cause of all of it.
Anyway, since every time I tried talking to her about our friendship relationship and my feelings she’d shut me down and make me feel like i was overreacting i just decided to take a step back. I didn’t ghost her or cut contacts, just decided to not give our friendship as much meaning as i used to. This happened more that a year ago.
Next week is my Bday, and I’m having a party, I invited a bunch of friends that i feel good around and that match my vibe, some of them are from my old friend group. I did not invite her, partially cuz i think she wouldn’t enjoy the type of stuff i have planned (board game night), but mostly i just don’t value her friendship that much anymore. But the thing is, she invited me to HER birthday party like two weeks after mine.
So idk if maybe I’m overeating?? AITA?
