Should I Sue the School District?

Location: Virginia, USA, public school system. My fourteen year-old son, along with a couple of other students, was taken to the bathroom by two female teachers, told to strip down to their underwear, and searched. The reason given was that they (the teachers) have been having troubles with kids sneaking vapes into school. My son asked to call home, but was denied. He was forced to remove his pants and allow the teachers to search through his clothes.

A cursory search online indicates that the law is clear and this is unconstitutional and inappropriate. We will be contacting the school tomorrow to demand an explanation. Should we seek legal counsel and sue the school system? We don't have much money but could possibly finance it by freeing up funds set aside for retirement. Please advise! Thanks
