Favorite Chubby Hotels That Made The Vacation

Hi All,

My husband and I always like to reminisce about what our top 3 favorite hotels have been that we've ever travelled to, and I thought it would be interesting to hear some other peoples' answers. So, what are yours and why?

I'll go first to kick it off: For me, each of these hotels either were the vacation in-and-of themselves (I didn't feel the need to leave the grounds because it was so special) OR there was something particularly spectacular about it.

3rd Place: Hotel La Compañía, Panama City - The hotel was incredible. The 'theming' of having three different historic buildings with time-period relevant antiques (machinery used in building the Panama Canal, posters of political propaganda at the time etc) scattered throughout was so special and fun to see. There were tons of activities being offered (mixology classes, wine tastings, tours of the hotel, rooftop pool and bar) and multiple unique restaurants. Normally we like to be about and about exploring, but the hotel was a destination in and of itself.

2nd Place: Chable Yucatan, near Merida Mexico - Beautiful grounds (the pool is to die for and open late) with a lovely room (each with their own heated pools). Tons of unique activities (stargazing, learning about their beehives and tasting the honey, various traditional Mayan rituals). And the service was very, very good.

1st Place: Bulgari Hotel, Tokyo, Japan: We booked this for our honeymoon a few years back. The room was so lovely: it was an incredibly beautiful space with amazing views over the city when you wanted them and the best blackout shades I have ever seen (which sounds like a weird thing to rave about but we appreciate a dark room). Every day and every night they refreshed the room with multiple sweet treats and tiny gifts. The thing that stood out though was the service. We had a complicated issue with our theater tickets that we were asking the concierge about. He ordered the hotel car to come pick us up, got in with us and went and sorted out the theater tickets himself. I've never seen anything like that in my entire life and frankly I am not sure I will again. Incredible service.

That's my list. What about you guys?
