Psych talking about marijuana & psychosis

Hi there! I was an avid marijuana user before my bipolar got worse. For a while it caused pretty bad psychosis so I had to stop for my sanity, but now that I’m medicated I’m considering using again. HOWEVER! My psychiatrist kinda gives me the same talk every time I see him— he wants me to avoid marijuana because it could put me at risk for psychosis yada yada, and I was wondering if anyone else’s doctor tells them this, if they actually listen, and if not what have you noticed about being medicated while smoking? Is it better? Worse? I’m really curious :) I do also have BPD which I self medicate and manage via marijuana so the last year of not using has been rough lol that’s partially why I’m asking.
