I don’t know how to tell my parents I can’t stomach living with them.
I’m 24. I just left a relationship of 5 years and I’m in the process of moving out of the home we bought together. I’m now staying with my parents. I hate being here. I love my parents but I absolutely hate living with them. They have no boundaries. They have no respect for my privacy. They think they’re entitled to all of my business and tell me that I’m disrespecting them when I keep certain aspects of my life private. They’re policing every move that I make. They get mad at me when I spend “too much” time away from the house. They get mad when I turn my location off because I don’t need them to see where I’m at during all times of the day. They’re inconsiderate of my sleep and work schedule so I haven’t been able to sleep in about 3 weeks and have experienced sleep paralysis. I’m so sick of it already. I can respect some ground rules because I know I’m staying in their house, but they are just pissed at every fckng move I make and they have no regard for the fact I’m dealing with enough heartache and stress and change as it is.
NOW- I know my solution to this problem is to find someplace else to stay. But I don’t know how to tell them because I know they’ll make a huge fuss and try to convince me that I’ll just fall flat on my face if I try and go anywhere else OR that I’m just an ungrateful daughter OR both. It will most definitely be an ugly conversation because that’s how they always get when I make a decision for myself without their approval. I should probably just do it anyways. I’m grown. But I don’t know how to even bring this up to them or how to handle it if they lose their minds. I love them. They’re my parents and I don’t want to have a falling out with them. But I can’t live like this.
