Do I wait for a text or can I text as a women?

I’m just going to say I got asked out on Friday by a guy that I like at a place I go to we were talking and then he had asked me if I wanted to go out but conversation with another direction before I could answer him, I ended up having to call back and then I ended up coming back after because I needed them to finish up doing something for me and I went into the store and I was like hey thanks for everything and I didn’t answer you earlier. Yeah I’d like to go get drinks with you. He then gave me his phone number and said to text him, I texted him initially thinking that we were going to do something next Saturday this upcoming Saturday, but he ended up texting me asking me or rather saying he was going to get dinner and he wanted me to join him if I didn’t already have plans, which I didn’t and I ended up getting dinner with them we had a 2 1/2 hour dinner. The time flew by and when I realized what time it was the restaurant restaurant close at nine I asked if he wanted to do something else and he said he couldn’t because he had to get some things done now while we were on the date he didn’t mention wanting to get together and you know take me to places where he like to go and you don’t. He invited me over sometime for a drink because his favorite drink also happens to be my favorite drink. When we left the restaurant and we made it to our cars, which he parked by my car, he gave me a side hug which I was kind of disappointed By. He say he don’t know if you don’t want to kiss me I would’ve been fine with a regular hug so this was all Friday and I haven’t heard from him since I don’t know if I should text him or if I wait for him to text me, but I do like him and I really do want to get together with him again, so I’m not sure what I should do. Any advice would be super helpful. You know I don’t know him that well but I truly believe that when he says he wants to see me again I believe him so I don’t know if I should text him or if I should wait or what I should do at this point thanks for any help with this.

I’m just always so confused if I need to wait for a text or if I can just reach out. I’ve always been told that if a guy doesn’t text you two days after a date he isn’t interested.
