Is it ever wise to buy from a used car flipper?

Buying

Here's the situation: I found a car on FB marketplace a few days ago and messaged the seller to set up a day to see the car. The time they offered conflicted with my work schedule, so I offered alternate times. They never got back to me and the car sold. It was a very well maintained (with records) company vehicle and a great price considering. Clearly the original seller just wanted it gone quickly and easily.

I see the same exact car listed again for about $500 more (not sure if this person haggled the original seller). They worded their post like it's been their personal car, downplayed the mileage, was not upfront about a smallish issue the original seller was, and is using different names on different platforms. I assumed this person is title flipping, but when I looked at the dmv fee calculator it said there's a current application in process? Does that mean anything?

Basically, I am confident in the car itself (would also do a ppi) and the inflated price is still good, but I don't trust the seller at all and would be extremely cautious if I were to move forward.

I am heavily leaning towards letting the car go and staying away from a dishonest seller, regardless of the extra information I have about the car. I've been looking for the right car for months and am very ready for the search to be over lol. Thoughts from anyone more knowledgeable appreciated!
