Hi HatsuVault! First time poster trying out an emission sword-based hatsu for an OC. Hope you like it!

Swordmaster's Devotion:

This nen user fights with a long-handled greatsword (modified Dark Souls I style Claymore) and on a one-to-one fight masquerades as an enhancer. The design of this blade allows for traditional swordmanship with extended reach and the addition of acrobatic spinning attacks. The user’s hatsu is Emission based, incorporating Enhancement and Manipulation as well.

Enhancement – Charged Blade: sword's blade is enhanced by a strong golden aura. RESTRICTION: aside from using Ko on the user's own body, his sword is the only item that the user can enhance, thereby increasing the efficacy of this enhancement and fooling enemies into thinking that the amount of aura visible on the blade is indicative of the user being an enhancer. Length of charge time is dependent on how much aura the user wishes to put onto the blade. Although less efficient, the blade can be charged even whilst in motion. Once charged, the blade’s aura remains unless it is forcibly emitted from it.

Emission 1 – Aura Slice: The aura held on the blade is emitted outwards as a golden slice which can travel great distances without losing its destructive power. The user is a skilled emitter despite his choice of weapon, and does not need to release all the charged aura in one attack, though this took time to learn. RESTRICTION: the user cannot emit his aura offensively through his own body (i.e. can still use basic principles such as En), requiring their sword to actualize their main nen category, thereby **greatly** enhancing its power.

Emission 2 - Ultimate Aura Slice: simply emitting an Aura Slice of maximum output (i.e. all aura in Charged Blade is emitted at once. RESTRICTION: doing this will require significant recharge time to return to combat-ready output.

Emission 2 – Aura Burst: The aura held on the blade is emitted outwards in all directions, appearing as a golden bubble around the user which does deal damage but more primarily pushes away all enemies/objects within its 2-meter radius. This emission can be pushed outward without swinging the blade, and can be used both offensively and defensively. Again, as this is a form of offensive emission, it can only be done through the sword.

Given Sword Master’s Devotion limitations, the user realised how vulnerable they are should their sword ever be stolen or they themselves be disarmed in combat. Due to this, a significant amount of training was used to develop a means to manipulate the sword when it is not in the user’s hands.

Manipulation 1 – Sword’s Devotion: Should the sword be disarmed or stolen from the user whilst the weapon is not imbued with nen then activation of Sword's Devotion causes the user’s palms to glow a golden light which forces the sword to fly back into their grip. Mostly, the user will be activating Weapon’s Devotion as soon as they are disarmed. The possible activation distance for this ability is the same as the user's natural emission range. This skill works in a magnetic manner and is only possible through years of bonding and pouring nen into this specific object. Should the sword be held down by any means greater than the user's pull then he will be flown towards it instead. RESTRICTION: Of course, only the sword can be manipulated by the user in this way.

Manipulation 2 – Sword’s Will: Should the sword be disarmed, stolen, or thrown by its user whilst it is imbued with nen, then in addition to being able to activate Sword’s Devotion, the user can also activate Sword’s Will. This allows the sword to be manipulated at will independently of the user. RESTRICTION: When this skill is active, the fingertips of the user's right middle and ring finger will glow and motioning them will allow for precice control of the sword mid-air whilst demanding that the user themselves be preocuppied in the manipulative task. Whilst the use of both enhancement and emission abilities is possible through Sword's Will these will quickly run through the Aura charged in the sword. While Sword's Will is active, the user's own control over the nen within their body is hindered given the focus required to manipulate their sword to such a degree, making them very succeptible to attacks as the reaction time to their own Ko will be hindered, and distance from the sword means that Aura Burst can't be relied on for defensive measures. As such, this skill is mostly used for either short-range or long-range surprise attacks when the user’s opponent believes the sword to be lost or not within range for recovery (particularly effective if the opponent has no knowledge of Sword’s Devotion or Sword's Will, the user may even 'feign' attempts retrieving the sword physically to control the information others have regarding the full scope of their hatsu).

Battle Plan: the user of Swordmaster's Devotion has expertly adapted their main nen trait of Emission into a flexible battle style which combines both short and long range capabilities. The fact their abilities are all limited to being used with the sword enhances their potential to a degree, and the fact that a sword is usually thought to be a close range weapon, motivates the user's secrecy regarding his own fully expressed hatsu. As such, the user greatly prefers one-on-one fights away from prying eyes as opposed to team bouts of flashy attention seeking battles. Mostly, the user will attempt to dominate in close quarters until their opponent is forced to retreat and so will be vulnerable to long-range pressure. This also helps the user to bait moves from their enemy which may dispossess them of their valuable sword, in which case ther secret manipulation abilities may quickly end the battle. Should an enemy be perceived to be superior from the beginning of battle, then Swordmaster's Devotion will be used fully by mixing defensive Aura Bursts, and an unrelenting mix of close and long range attacks. What truly makes Swordmaster's Devotion shine in this instance is the unpredictability of whether a sword swing will remain in close range or culminate in an Aura Slice, meaning defensive measures are far harder to predict. Overall, the user's main weakness would definetely have to be the time required to charge more significant amounts of aura into the sword, this also means that discharging the an Ultimate Aura Slice creates its own degree of risk as well as advantage. This means that contrary to the user's wish for secrecy, theoretically this Hatsu woulf be its strongest with a team of allies to set them up with time for Charged Blade, maybe they'll learn to work with others in the future.

Tried to expand on a simple concept for this and really happy with the results ! Looking forward to sub's thoughts !

fwy used ChatGPT to generate the sword image.
