Finished with a few hours to spare.

This is a special kit to me, it was the first kit I bought and what got me into the hobby a couple years back. I bought this as I wanted to make a faithful replica of my own car(see the last 2 photos). I had kept this kit on the shelf, buying and building a few “practice kits” to hone my skills before building attempting this one.

Being very familiar with the car made me appreciate a lot of the detail of the kit. For the most part, this is just built out of the box, though a few extra steps were necessary to make it a true replica of my own car.

I purchased touch up spray paint in the exact paint code of my actual car. I decanted the spray can for use in the airbrush which was surprisingly easy.

I also had to fabricate the front lip/air dam and rear trunk lid spoiler from some sprues. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out though the perfectionist in me has some minor gripes.

Last few personalization touches are the custom license plate, and infotainment screen. Rather than using the screen water slide decal, I took a screenshot of my CarPlay listening to one of my favorite driving albums and printed it off at 1:24 scale. Such a minor and hidden detail but I’m glad I did it!

Thanks to the moderators and sponsors of this contest, it’s been over a year since my last build and this contest forced me to finally build this kit.
