is a dining table important for family use?

At my parents’ home renovation meeting I started considering a new dining table. At first it seemed like a basic requirement for family meals and gatherings. Local furniture stores had many options but the selection felt either too plain or too expensive. I thought a good dining table could bring everyone together more often.

However I remembered buying furniture before that looked great but did not hold up well under daily use. That experience was disappointing and made me more cautious. Even small aspects like material quality, size, and maintenance started to matter more.

To get a better idea I explored more options. While casually scrolling online marketplaces including alibaba I found many dining tables in different designs sizes and price ranges but I am not sure if I should buy one because of my past experience. Some looked durable and stylish while others seemed prone to wear and tear.

Now I am wondering whether a dining table is just functional or can truly enhance family bonding. Has anyone bought one recently and found it both practical and appealing?
