Hello I found a chick in my yard PLZ HALP
Hi,
I don't have zero experience, but I have very little chicken experience, and all of ours were grown folks. I live in a city center and somehow, wildly, found a very young chick in my yard! We do have a "neighborhood rooster" that I have seen around, and a couple hens, but they don't belong to anyone. They are basically free range strays.
So this baby.... I gave it a box with a towel, a low water bowl, and a little plop of emergency gruel (corn and bread, blended), and an electric heater in a closed room. I will go to TS tomorrow but I have nothing and no idea what I actually need. Halp? Advice?
I would love for this little babe to be raised with his crowd, but none of the neighbors have seen chicks. I am open to a house chicken situation, if we can make it work with the cat (he is so far 100% uninterested). Is this really a real thing?
The internet says this babe is for sure less than a week old and we named them Resurrection. Any advice/guidance would be great. I have kept pet birds (cockatiels) and cared for an adult chicken flock, but no baby experience.
