Playing Illusionist Wizard with a twist

So starting a new campaign and of course WOTC drops a new UA on Villainous Options and the Lich feats really peaked my interest. So thinking of doing an illusionist wizard who (long story short) learned what “undead” is and how it’s almost a life like illusion (dead but not really) and then starts to study Orcus and wants to eventually turn themselves into the ultimate undead…a Lich. Any ideas? lol was just a wild concept that came to me.
