What explains why Eswatini is authoritarian in a way that Lesotho isn't when it comes to being two monarchies in Southern Africa?

Geopolitics

I'm curious because who knew that the two little monarchies that are dwarfed by South Africa ended up with two different trajectories for how they governed?

Eswatini perhaps resembles South Africa pre-1994 minus the state-sanctioned white supremacy (though they were friendly with the apartheid regime) and Lesotho resembles South Africa post-1994 without all that drama (aside from what happened with the Prime Minister's wife in South Africa)..
