After a month in the hospital & rehab, can't stand . . .

It's coming up on a month that my mother has spent in the hospital and rehab.

With exception of PT where she stands every other movement in the hospital and PT has been done via a Hoyer.

Although my mother is paralyzed on the left side she has always been able to stand so I can change her, bathe her, etc.

When I had her meeting with the PT and Social Worker at the rehab they asked me if I had any help at home because a Hoyer lift needs 2 people. (I do not)

I told them that wasn't acceptable as she could stand when she was admitted to the hospital and I expected her to be able to stand upon returning home.

Today I was at the rehab (she's been there almost 3 weeks and has one more to go) and she had to poop.

They told me they were going to get her into bed and onto a bad pan. I knew that wouldn't work so I begged them to get a shower chair so I could put her on it and roll her over to the toilet.

They agreed and I was shocked that she really could not stand at all (I went to 2 PT sessions 2 weeks ago and she could not well but she could do it).

Now, I'm thinking I can't see the point of leaving her in rehab if they're not truly "getting her ready to return home".

(We have a Sara Steady Sit to Stand knock off at home)

Does anyone have any protocol or experience with getting their loved one back to be able to stand if they came home from the hospital or rehab unable to do so?

I don't want to go overboard or "under board".

If my mother can no longer stand that means no transfers into the car which has never been a problem and it means never leaving the house and she will die both mentally and eventually physically.

Any advice / info / experience appreciated.
