Shall we talk about Heroes and Lodger?

Appreciation

Hey friends, I'm back after listening to these two albums. Honestly, I really liked them, even though I don't think they're among my favorites. Lodger, maybe.

Let's talk first about Heroes, an album I had high expectations for. And I think it lived up to them. I was afraid it would be like Low 2, and aside from two songs (the only ones I didn't like), I don't think it's anything like it. The only songs I didn't like were Moss Garden and Neuköln, which sound a lot like those ambient instrumentals on Low's B-side. Otherwise, I did like the songs and instrumentals. I definitely think the best song is Heroes, but I also really like Beauty and the Beast. It's a really good album, though I'm not sure if it's one of my favorites...

Lodger, on the other hand, is something completely different. It has a Heroes sound, but it doesn't feel like it. I liked it more than Heroes, mainly because it has more songs I like, but the difference isn't huge. It has very different songs from each other; if you told me that D.J. was from the same album as... I don't know, Repetition, I'd find it hard to believe. And yet, it doesn't feel like a different album. It's strange to explain. My favorite song was Move On. It has several good tracks; the only ones I didn't like were Yassassin and Red Money.

With this, I suppose the famous Berlin Trilogy comes to an end. What can I say? Perhaps, despite mostly liking it, I think it's a step back from the experimentation of Station to Station, which blew my mind. Even so, they're good albums, and very enjoyable. Except for Low, for me. Maybe I'll listen to it again in the future and like it, but for now, I think it's the Bowie album I liked the least (and I have half of it on my playlist, haha). Still, it was cool to listen to, very different, as Bowie usually delivers. What do you think? I appreciate you all and I'll read you!
