Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice on my juvenile bearded dragon, Saffron. I got him Feb 17th 2026. He was originally in a 40 gallon enclosure and in the beginning (about 3 weeks) of March he was eating normallish... few bugs every other day and greens. One day beginning of March he ate about 10 bugs from dubia roaches & meal Worms (yes I know mealworms aren't ideal.. but his breeder was giving them & at first he availed Dino's.—but shortly after that his appetite dropped off and he basically stopped eating bugs altogether. He ate few arugulas pieces but ignored the bugs. Since then, I've only seen him eat one mealworm and a few pieces of greens once, and otherwise he's been uninterested in both insects and greens.

Maybe two weeks ago on his second day of critical care after not eating anything for two days later in the evening I gave him repti boost and then in the morning the following day I gave him critical care. It was more in the liquidy side, but six hours later he threw up and that's when I started to get worried, but since then he hasn't, his poop looks kind of yellow with white with a little bit of urate, but think it's yellow cause all he's been eating is critical care.

He was 7grams for weeks. Now he's 6grams for 3 weeks.

Not loosing or gaining. His tail looks thin but he is only 6grams. — but he's still active-he climbs, basks, and repositions. He does show interest in food. Today he visually looked down at the bugs (he hasn't in weeks) and even above them to look toward them, but he won't strike, and it I try to present tood with tong like used to and drop bug he will walk away.

His UVB is an Arcadia T5 14% about 12 inches from  his basking area, and his basking surface temp ranges from 99-105°F measured on the rock with a temp gun.

Ambient fluctuates because he has a screen top and I live in New York..on hot is around 87° cold around 78° on cold days it might be 82° ambient and 71° ambient on the cold

He's been to the vet, fecal came back negative for parasites, and he was given medication as a precaution called Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim. He became A LOT more alert after 4 days on it. Currently on day 6. I've been giving Critical Care via syringe for calories and any food really helps eat that from the syringe willingly... and I even tried mixing in Repashy Grub Pie since it's insect-based, but he completely rejected it when I add the grub pie and shook his head at the taste. Lol

Right now I'm offering dubias as the main feeder and occasionally waxworms to try to stimulate appetite, and I've tried both tong feeding and leaving bugs near his basking area, but the pattern stays the same-interested but not eating. I'm trying to figure out if this is more likely stress, something internal that didn't show on fecal, or something subtle in husbandry I might still be missing, so any insight would really help.

Also not to judge, I was told to move him in a 10 gallon enclosure from the 40 gallon because he's so small and it's easier for him to find bugs. I hear mixed reviews on him being in the 10 gallon or not but he'll move around the 10 gallon the 40 gallon he kind of stayed in the same spot all day long. I'm waiting for his custom pvc adult enclosure to arrive.

I need help with my very small bearded dragon. He’s not eating bugs or growing.
