I feel like leveling social stats would bother me less if they actually showed how many points I have and/or how many I need until the next level.

I recently started playing Persona 4 Golden for the first time, with my prior experience being with Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 4 Reload, and much like Royal and Reload I'm being reminded how frustrating I find trying to level up the social stats (for the record, I play on PS4, so no, I can't add mods).

I think my big issue is essentially that until you actually achieve a rank up, trying to gain points for the social stats almost feels like you're wasting your time because you're not able to see any of the progress you're making.

With leveling up your characters' combat levels you can see how much EXP they have and how much more they need until the next level, so you can track your progress easily and know how close or far you are from your goal. And while we aren't shown how many points we have in the social links, they generally don't require that many music notes in order to unlock the next part of the link, so not knowing isn't usually that big of a deal, even if you sometimes have to draw a fortune or do a hang-out in order to boost it a bit.

The social stats though require so many points for each rank and since you don't know how many points you have or how many more you need for the next rank it feels like you're not making any progress and not using your limited amount of time efficiently. This is especially frustrating when some of the social links require higher ranks in order to get the best results or to even do certain ranks. The next part of Nanako's social link is only available if you've achieved Rank 3 in Expression? Well, hopefully this next time doing translator work or attending the drama club will get you to that rank.
