Is it wrong that I really don’t like my aunts?
I don’t wanna use the word hate because I don’t like that word, but it honestly gets close sometimes.
My mom is the oldest of five girls. My whole family is very close. We all hang out almost every Sunday. Something about my family is that everyone makes fun of everyone. It’s normally just small teasing, but you can tell who is insecure because they take it too far. My aunts, my mom’s sisters, are the ones who do this a lot, especially to me. I know why they would be so cluckin rude. I was a quiet kid. I’ve never been able to protect myself verbally, so they attack. They’ve said horrible things to me for as long as I can remember.
Them doing this caused me to be extra quiet. I wouldn’t talk or play much when we went over to my grandparents. I would bring a bag with my own toys and coloring books to keep myself busy. They would make fun of that too. For no reason, just saying look how much stuff she brought and all start laughing. Like what the cluck is funny about that. I was in elementary school. Kids bring toys and stuff everywhere all the time. I eventually got an iPad when I was older so I could work on stuff there and not have to bring so much stuff and get embarrassed.
As I got older, I just got quieter and quieter. But then my sister’s wedding happened.
I am very protective over my siblings, especially since I know what it feels like to get made fun of or to have people talk behind your back like that. So when my older sister’s wedding came around, of course my aunts had things to say. One reason I always liked being quiet is that I would hear everyone’s conversations and pick up on everything. So while we were at my grandparents, I went upstairs to work on my stuff silently. My sister was out with her then fiancé, now husband.
My aunts are very loud, so I could hear them all the way upstairs. They were making fun of my sister’s wedding dress. Saying she needed to cover up more. That she needed to find something prettier. And even saying she had to lose weight so she would look better in her dress.
That made my blood boil.
I’ve never spoken up against my family before, but that day I was done. You do not talk about my sister like that, especially when she looked absolutely beautiful in that dress. She was stunning.
I marched down those stairs and lost my pecking mind on them. I screamed my head off. They shut up so quickly. They were not used to me talking to them like that. I especially went off on my two faced aunt who pretended to be my sister’s best friend but was talking the most about her.
Of course I told my sister about it, and she thanked me because they had been talking so much crap about her and she was tired of it. Let me tell you, they quieted down after that. They did not say anything else, at least not around me. And they did not cause my sister any more drama.
They stopped making comments around me after that, but I think they forgot because they are starting again. Just making side comments or doing things that make me and my family uncomfortable.
They really get on my nerves.
But it feels wrong not to like family. I know some people will not agree with that, but in my family it is true. We all love each other.
And I do love my aunts. I will help them with anything they need. If they are going through something, I will gladly be there.
I love them.
I just do not like them. Not at all.
I have more stories about how annoying they are. I might post those on my blog if I remember. I can go more into detail so you can really see what I am dealing with because I am still pretty cluckin mad
